
Buy pears, canned or fresh, then look for ready-made dessert shells in your grocer’s produce section. In less than 10 minutes, you’ll have a delicious, healthful dessert that everyone will love. For variety, substitute with peaches, strawberries -- and whatever strikes your fancy! Yum!
Makes 4 servings (1 shortcake per serving)
Ingredients
1 can (16 ounces) sliced pears packed in juice, drained
½ teaspoon almond extract
4 prepared sponge cake shells
Nondairy frozen whipped topping, thawed
Almonds, sliced
Directions
1. In a small bowl combine the pears and almond extract. Cover and chill until ready to serve.
2. Spoon the pears into the sponge cake shells. Garnish with whipped topping and almonds.
