This high-energy fruit and cereal snack mix is filled with fiber, vitamins and minerals --and makes a nutritious alternative to candy at Halloween time. The chocolate-covered raisins are a lower-fat and healthier way to satisfy your sweet tooth than the typical candy pieces in trail mixes. Help yourself control portions by dividing snack mix between six snack-size zippered bags. Get creative and customize your trail mix by substituting equal amounts of different dried fruits and cereal.
Makes about 3 cups (6 servings, ½ cup per serving)
Ingredients1/4 cup raisins1/3 cup dates, chopped1/3 cup dried cherries1/3 cup dried strawberries, chopped1/3 cup dark-chocolate-covered raisins1 cup oat squares cereal
Directions1. Toss all ingredients together in a large bowl.
2. Store snack mix in a tightly covered container.
